Gil Scott Heron just passed away.
Very few have or ever will achieve his far reaching iconic musical and poetic influence.
His poetic commentary on the black American experience and the injustice of the American political system made him widely recognized as the one of the most inspirational figures of rap and the spoken word.
Whilst he denounced the widely considered title of 'The Godfather of Rap'.. no one comes close to this man. If you ever saw him live, at his peak, he was genius. This is a very sad loss indeed. His inspiration and iconic sound will live on forever.
